Coaches Education Program
Baltimore- July 22
US Lacrosse today launched the Level 1 online courses of
its new Coaches Education Program via the US Lacrosse web site,
www.uslacrosse.org, as announced by Katherine Clark,
associate director of programs at US Lacrosse. The Level 1 online
courses are for men’s and women’s lacrosse coaches that have little or
no previous experience in coaching lacrosse. The goal of Level 1 is to
prepare coaches to work with youth and/or beginning players.
US Lacrosse partnered with NetSol Technologies, Inc., which provided the
e-learning technology to make online access and structure possible. To
access the Coaches Education Program Level 1 online courses use this web
address:
http://www.uslacrosse.org/cec/index.php.
"To launch the Level 1 online courses is extremely exciting for us, but
this is just the beginning to what we hope will become the ultimate
coaching authority and resource for coaches, players and fans of all
levels," said Clark, who serves as the Project Manager for the Coaches
Education Program.
The first level online courses have been in development for over two
years. There are two more levels that are currently in development,
Level 2 and Level 3, with the entire Coaches Education Program slated to
be in completed by the end of 2006.
"We hope to provide an easily accessible, comprehensive educational
resource to those new to lacrosse," said Clark. "Quality coaching of
current and future players is absolutely crucial to providing a positive
lacrosse experience, honoring the game, and ensuring the success and
growth of the sport."
The Coaches Education Program would not have been possible without
the help of the US Lacrosse staff and the Coaches Education Committee
which is chaired by University of Delaware men’s lacrosse coach Bob
Shillinglaw. The project received funding from the Men’s Division
Coaches Council, the Women’s Division, and the Intercollegiate Women’s
Lacrosse Coaches Association.
US Lacrosse, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the national
governing body of men’s and women’s lacrosse. For more information,
